Microsoft released the Windows Service Pack 2 RTM and is now available for download. All the Windows Vista users with Service Pack 1 can download the latest Service Pack 2 for Vista. Microsoft has stated that SP1 is a prerequisite for installing Service Pack 2. The Vista SP2 (KB948465) is around 350 MB in size and the DVD ISO is 1.37GB. Windows Server 2008 SP2 and Windows Vista SP2 is available in Five Language Standalone EXE and DVD ISO.

Service Pack 2 supports new kinds of hardware and emerging hardware standards for Windows Vista and Server 2008 which even includes all updates that came after SP1. SP2 enables IT administrators to deploy and support a single service pack for clients and servers. Vista SP2 can be installed for English, Spanish, Japanese, French, and German versions of the operating system for both 32-bit and 64-bit flavors. SP2 is an update for Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista, which incorporates improvements and updates.

Notable Features and Improvements

• SP2 integrates Windows Vista Feature Pack for wireless, which supports Bluetooth v2.1 and Windows Connect now Wi-Fi configuration.
• SP2 includes the ability to record data to Blu-Ray Disc media, and also updates to the RSS feeds sidebar for improved performance.
• SP2 improves performance of Wi-Fi connections after resuming from sleep mode and removes the limit of 10 half open outbound TCP connections which is by default.
• SP2 improves Windows Media Center in the area of content protection for TV.
