inSSIDer – Open Source Wi-Fi Network Scanner for Windows Vista and XP
inSSIDer is an open source Wi-Fi network scanner for Windows Vista and Windows XP. inSSIDer is a very good tool for analyzing Wi-Fi networks. You can also get more information about the Wi-Fi networks. inSSIDer can be used to track and record wireless network activity graphically for performance interpretation.
When you are on the go you can use inSSIDer to identify available access points, display available SSIDs and their channel, signal strength, speed and encryption type. You can group by data by Mac Address, SSID, Channel, RSSI and “Time Last Seen.” inSSIDer uses the Native Wi-Fi API and is compatible with most GPS devices (NMEA v2.3 and higher).
Using inSSIDer you can inspect your WLAN and surrounding networks to troubleshoot competing access points, track the strength of received signal in dBm over time, filter access points in an easy to use format, highlight access points for areas with high Wi-Fi concentration and also export Wi-Fi and GPS data to a KML file to view in Google Earth.
