Download PwnageTool 3.1 to Jailbreak iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 1G With iPhone OS 3.1

The iPhone Dev team has finally released the much awaited PwnageTool to jailbreak iPhone OS 3.1. If you have upgraded your iPhone with the latest iPhone OS 3.1 then you can use PwnageTool 3.1 to jailbreak iPhone 3G with iPhone OS 3.1. PwnageTool 3.1 works only on Mac and supports iPhone 2G(1st Generation), iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 1G. PwnageTool 3.1 does not support iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 2G and 3G.

If you are using a 3G iPhone with ultrasn0w and rely on ultrasn0w to obtain cellular service, then you should only upgrade to 3.1 with a PwnageTool created .ipsw. If you have got an original 1st Gen iPhone then 3.1 unlock works with this PwnageTool release. iPhone 3G users upgrading to 3.1 will need to continue using ultrasn0w with a PwnageTool created 3.1 .ipsw. If you have got a “SIM Free” or “SP Unlocked” or “Factory Unlocked iPhone 3G” then you can simply upgrade to 3.1 using iTunes and then use PwnageTool to create an ipsw and then use this to jailbreak your iPhone.

If you have got an iPhone 2G (1st Generation) you can use the PwnageTool to do the magic and then restore with iTunes using your newly created .ipsw and with that the baseband will be unlocked, the phone jailbroken. If you have an iPod touch 1G (Original iPod Touch) you can then use PwnageTool to create a firmware image and restore with that .ipsw using iTunes.
