Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.2 Update Kills Support for Intel Atom Processors?
Here is a very sad news for hacked Mac OS X system users as the latest beta seed of Mac OS X 10.6.2 has taken out the support for Atom processors. In current developer build of 10.6.2, the world’s most advance operating system Mac OS X by Apple, seems to have taken out support for Intel Atom processors. Although the beta version Mac OS X 10.6.2 update is not yet released for Snow Leopard it appears to kill the Atom support of intel for hacked Mac OS X users. It was also rumored that Apple would prefer ARM architecture processors instead of the Atom in future handhelds.
People testing the beta version 10.6.2, claim that Apple has changed support in such a way that compatibility with the small Intel chips has been broken at the architecture level including their ability to enter sleep mode through an unofficial extension. Killing of Atom processors can be a move made by Apple for shutting down the growing and popular Hackintosh Netbook community in order to prevent hacked copies of Mac OS X from running on the netbooks.
Though Apple has little incentive to support Atom itself, this move leaves those making “Hackintosh” systems with little choice either to stay with 10.6.1 or 10.5.8, else to wait for an unofficial fix. The version 10.5.9 may also feature the same atom problems as in 10.6.2, which may be another road blocker.
Experts suggest for those enjoying the benefits of using a hacked computer with Mac OS X installed either to stick with the Max OS X versions 10.6.1 for Snow Leopard and 10.5.8 for Leopard on Hackintosh netbooks. Else upgrading Mac OS X to 10.6.2 and running it in an older or modified kernel like the stock 10.0.0 kernel or the modded Snow kernels.
