AMD Announces Triple-core Athlon II X3 435 and Athlon II X3 425 Processors
California-based Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has announced its new desktop processors which come under the company’s leading line of Athlon II chips along with it’s first Athlon triple-core processors. The new array of Athlon II CPUs contains quad-core models; triple-core and dual-core in eight total new chips, in that six are the parts of the energy-efficient lineup.
The low-cost model is the dual-core Athlon II X2 235e, specially designed to offer high speed of 2.7GHz and a TDP of 45W to the users. In fact, most of all AMD’s new Athlon II processors are designed with a 45W TDP. According to AMD, the 235e model will be available with a price tag of US$69. All the new models of energy-efficient Athlon II X2 240e, 400e, 405e, 600e and 605e are designed with a TDP of 45W and sports clock speeds of 2.8GHz, 2.2GHz, 2.3GHz, 2.2GHz and 2.3GHz, correspondingly. The price tags of these models are US$77, US$99, US$102, US$133 and US$143, respectively.
Addition to all of the above models, AMD also declared the triple-core Athlon II X3 435 and Athlon II X3 425 processors which are designed with a 95W TDP and core speeds of 2.7GHz and 2.9GHz. These two super models will available in 1000 unit quantities for US$76 and US$86 respectively. When compared to Intel Core 2 Duos, these models should be very pleasing to users with their performance and price ratio.
